Ukrainian engineering company Olis has launched a buckwheatprocessing plant in Estonia, featuring its Optimatyk H-24 grain processingsystem with a capacity of up to 24 tons per day, the company announced on Facebookon March 4.

“The customer received the Optimatyk H-24 OLIS grainprocessing unit—a complete technological system for buckwheat processing, including metal structures, aspiration, gravity and pneumatic transportsystems, as well as electrical components and automation. Our engineers adaptedthe equipment to fit the architectural features of the client’s facility andimplemented multi-format packaging solutions—from big bags to small retailpacks,” the statement read.

Olis emphasized that the grain processing unit delivers thehighest yield and quality among similar modular processing plants. One of itskey advantages is the ability to produce both traditional steamed buckwheatgroats (yadrytsia) and raw “green” buckwheat without hydrothermal treatment.

The plant has successfully completed the first stage ofoperations, allowing for the production of green buckwheat. The finishedproduct is already available on supermarket shelves across the European Union.

In the next phase, the company plans to build a boilersystem that will generate steam from buckwheat husks, enabling the productionof steamed buckwheat groats (yadrytsia).

In March 2022, Olis resumed operations at its plant in OdesaOblast, despite the challenges of war. The company manufactures around 200types of equipment for the grain processing industry, including grain cleaningcomplexes, mills, and processing plants, handling everything from technologydevelopment to facility commissioning.

Olis exports its products to over 25 countries worldwide.

The company’s ultimate beneficiaries are Oleh Vasyliev andLarysa Ostapenko, each holding a 35% stake, along with Oleksandr Vereshchynskyi, who owns 30%.

Previously, it was reported that the Ukrainian companyKormotech has begun construction of its second plant in Lithuania, furtherstrengthening Ukraine’s industrial presence in the EU.
