Players can experience a peaceful, relaxing lifestyle in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life by settling on a farm in a small town called Forgotten Valley. There they will be tasked with growing crops, raising farm animals, selling products, and starting a family. Building a consistent income flow is essential, and selling crops is one of the main ways players can earn Gold. Getting helpful equipment such as the Seed Maker makes things much for efficient.

Vesta's Farm is the first way players can get crop seeds. However, she charges a considerable amount for seeds and fertilizer. The Seed Maker will process and turn a crop into seeds, and players can save money. The Seed Maker in A Wonderful Life does cost a considerable amount of Gold to install, but there is a way for players to get it for free.

Players must befriend Daryl for a free Seed Maker in A Wonderful Life. Daryl is a local scientist and inventor that lives in Forgotten Valley and spends most of his time inside his Lab or the Forest. The quickest way to increase his friendships level is to have daily discussions with him or give him his favorite gifts. Daryl likes Cheese, Fish, and Fossils.

Players can make Cheese after purchasing the Processing Room in the Ledger for 150,000G. Fish and Fossils are easier to collect and can be found within the first few days on the farm. To get Fish, players must buy a Fishing Rod from Van for 500G. He will visit Forgotten Valley on the third day of the season. Then players can fish in any of the bodies of water around the village.

Fossils are found inside the Digsite across the bridge and near the waterfall. Between 10 AM and 5 PM, players can visit the Digsite and talk to Carter for a shovel and permission to dig up the various items found inside. With a gift in hand, find Daryl and show it to him to increase his friendship level.

There will be a series of cutscenes as players get closer to Daryl, but eventually, they will trigger one where he mentions the Seed Maker. Go into Daryl's lab during the afternoon, and he will vent about a company stealing his idea for a Seed Maker in the city. To prove that his machine is better than the copy, he gifts one for players to install on their farm.

The Seed Maker can be used to transform fully grown crops into seeds. Whether players get it from Daryl or purchase one in the Ledger, it will save more money than buying seeds from Vesta. Players can insert any fruit or vegetable, which will be broken down into two seeds.

Players can put up to 12 kinds of crops inside the machine. The Seed Maker will turn red while it is processing crops, and after a few hours, it will turn blue again when it's done. If players use it with every group of crops they grow, they will eventually be able to harvest all their crops and cut out the middleman.
